Essential Oils For Your Furry Friends!

Posted on August 28, 2014

Welcome to the first oily blogHOP!  We are so excited to have you here.

Make sure you keep your eyes peeled for little bottles of lemon as you read through the blog posts. At the end tally them up and you can enter a fun giveaway to win the Gentle Babies book by Debra Raybern, a total must have for Mom’s with little ones.

If you have gone the whole way around the blog and found your way back here, go to to enter the number of lemon bottles you counted on the whole blogHOP.  Entries will be accepted until 9AM (PST) on 8/29 winner will be selected at random on Sept 1st!

I could list a million ways that we have used our Young Living essential oils, but one of my favorites is for Lily.  Our oils are non toxic to the dogs, just like humans so it’s great to know they are safe.  Like most dogs, Lily tends to itch often.  We always try and use soaps that are mild and formulated for itchy skin, but they never seem to work.  I was excited to try out our Young Living recipe on Lily and thrilled when it worked and her itching has almost completely stopped- not to mention she smells much fresher!   This recipe is easy and quick!  (If you don’t have all the oils listed, don’t worry, just use what you have.)  Combine in a jar. Shake well. Lather and rinse well.

Lily has had chronic ear infections for the past 2 years.  As soon as we would stop using the medicine she would get another infection.  I read how many Young Living users were applying Purification Essential Oil along the ear line, on the outside of the ear (never internally, because it would burn the tender ear canal), applied over the fur down the tube of the ear from the outside.  Within 5 days of starting Lily’s ears had no more brown stuff inside and were less inflamed.

Essential oils can be used to calm and focus our dogs.  Peace and Calming has been successful  at promoting relaxation and peace with Lily.

Like people, there are tons of different uses and combinations.  I hope some of these ideas have opened your eyes to the world of possibilities that are out there for essential oils and your pets.

Young Living Essential Oils

Posted on August 11, 2014

I haven’t quite become a crazy hippie just yet, but I have to confess I am loving Young Living Essential Oils.  A friend of mine convinced me to try essential oils for Ethan’s cough.  At the time I thought she was nuts but it really worked. Next I tried some oils on a bad case of  TMJ and my husband’s trick knee and I was sold.  YL is the largest producer of therapeutic-grade essential oils in the world, has over 9,000 acres of aromatic farmland where they grow, harvest, distill, bottle and blend oil. Basically essential oils are the aromatics, distilled from various part of plants (seeds, roots, flowers, fruits, leaves, etc.).

The essential oils from Young Living are all therapeutic grade oils you can diffuse, apply topically, and ingest.  Basically things that you’d typically run to the medicine cabinet and pop a pill for.

We don’t have a ton of issues in our family but here is what we’ve successfully  used so far:

  • Purification: On mosquito bites, in bug spray, and to get rid of odors in the house and in laundry.

  • Lavender, Lemon and Peppermint: When used together, these work great for allergies.  I diffuse them and can’t believe how great they smell

  • Peppermint: tummy aches, stuffy nose, headache

  • Frankincense: All things skin-related. Anti-aging, all that good stuff

  • Valor: Snoring, anxiety (Would you believe that I put this on Mike’s feet at night for a snore free night?)

  • Lavender: Scrapes and cuts, sleepy cream, & skin issues

  • Thieves:  Fighting illness, sore throat

  • Peace & Calming: Calming fussy adults ; )

  • Stress Away: My secret weapon!

These oils plus a few more, and a diffuser, some samples, and some literature all come in the Premium Starter Kit.  (I specifically recommend the kit with this pretty white “Aroma” diffuser.)

3W-2 How to get your  Premium Starter Kit:

1. Click over to the sign-up page:

2. Select “Sign Up As: Young Living Wholesale Member” (this secures you the 24% off discount on all future orders)

3. The “Enroller ID” and “Sponsor ID” boxes should already be filled in for you.  If they aren’t, fill in 1930273 in both spots.

4. Fill out your name, billing address, shipping address, and contact info. (The reason you are asked for your SSN is for tax purposes; if you make over $600/year selling Young Living products, you will receive a 1099 form in the mail, as is required by law.  Young Living never shares this info with anyone, and you’re not obligates to sell anything if you do not want to. I promise I wouldn’t lead you astray here!)  If you sign up for a retail account you don’t have to supply your SS#, but you don’t qualify for a wholesale account with 24% off.

5. Create your password and pin which you will use to log in to your account and order your oils.

6. Select your enrollment order.  This is where you can specify which starter kit you would like. I recommend the Premium Kit with the Aroma Diffuser.

7. It will ask if you want to sign up for the Essential Rewards program. I recommend saying not to this for now.

8. Agree to Terms & Conditions

9. CONFIRM YOUR ORDER. Some folks miss this step and end up not fully checking out.  To confirm, the tool will log you in and it will show you your order again and it will make you enter in your payment information again.

10. Wait for the mailman to arrive! This step is will be agonizing.

Maine Aug’14

Posted on August 10, 2014

We just got back from a great trip to Maine and New England.  I didn’t realize until I got back how few photos I took of the kids. I think I was in so excited about what we saw this time that I focused on that.  Here are a few of our favorite spots!
