For days, (well maybe not days, but since we got our tree) I have been obsessed with bokeh balls :)  Who would have guessed that my silhouette obsession could quickly be switched to such a simple thing like Bokeh balls.  I was having such a hard time figuring them out until I came across a great blog post with better instructions.  Gratefully, I now have a better grasp!

Grateful for a nice time of decorating the tree tonight.  I wanted to leave it outside for a week, but the kids were eager to get it in the house.  My holiday photo class will teach us next week about good ways to photograph the tree, but for now, I got this shot of the boys decorating.

The search for the perfect tree!  For the first time ever we decided to head to the mountains to get our tree this year.  There was no better time than today.  We made the 3.5 hour journey early this morning to Boone.  We found a great choose and cut farm that brought you to the trees by tractor.  The kids loved it and it was an almost perfect day.  (I say almost because I dropped my new iphone on the pavement.  Not a pretty sight.)  I am grateful for this new tradition.

This was on the hayride to the other side. Cole wasn’t thrilled with his new hat.

These were the rows and rows of trees.  I have never seen anything like this before.  The kids loved roaming around the mountain side.

I am pretty sure he enjoyed his last day in his thirties (Lordy Lordy tomorrow he will be 40)

He tried to dodge the camera.

and did the official measuring of lots of trees!

This guy bundled it up and tied it on top of the car

and we headed home to the apple store…

Lots and lots to be grateful for this year.  We had a nice Thanksgiving today spent with friends.  This was the first time that we have ever not been with some family for the day, but we had a great day. Joni and Nancy were my first friends when we moved to North Carolina.  We have all stayed friends even though we are in different states now. We were grateful to be invited to spend the day with them.  I didn’t get any great photos, but this is Joni and Nancy.

It’s a little overdue that I am grateful for my supportive husband.  Not that he doesn’t drive me crazy most days, but he is super supportive of my crazy ideas.  I have about 5 ideas brewing for new business ideas and he he supportive of all of them- even the crazy ones.  We’ll see what next year brings for us, but I am very lucky to have him so encouraging and supportive of my expensive new hobby :)

Last night, for several hours, we had no cable, internet or phone service.  I almost lost my marbles.  This morning, I am grateful for all of those luxuries!

I am starting this class next week.  If anyone is interested, here is the link. It looks like a fun class.

What a gorgeous day it was here today!  We are all grateful for this beautiful day.  We all wore shorts, Lily got to swim and everyone was happy!  We did our regular Sunday morning trip to a walking trail with Lily today.  The kids did some mountain biking and I took some pictures- perfect day!

We found this dark lake and I was thrilled with the reflection.

Lily got to swim in November!

And I tortured the kids with a few more silhouettes.  I am renting another lens.  Trying to shorten my wish list.  These were taken with the super expensive Nikon 24-70mm.  I am thrilled to be taking it off of my Santa List.  I am not happy with the lack of sharpness.  I think I am strictly a prime girl.

On days like today, where I live on my computer, I am forever grateful for my mac.  I could never go back…
