Fifty-Two Fridays | Week 25
Posted on July 8, 2011
I can’t tell you how close I was to skipping over this weeks p52. Our theme this week was Freedom. I wasn’t feeling the motivation to come up with an idea from freedom. It’s not even the middle of summer yet and my kids spent the day bickering and testing their limits. As I was outside comparing notes with my neighbor about the trials and tribulations of summer with the kids at home – it hit me! The boys are in need of freedom. I was searching for a freedom photo in a whole different light, but this is what I needed. I often worry that we shelter our kids too much now days. Things are so different from when we were kids. I know we do have to be more careful, but there’s got to be a middle ground. I have got to start working on teaching them more about independence and how to make good decisions when life throws them a curve ball. The kids need time without grown up direction. Time to wander and time to develop freedom. I have to let them grow. One day they will go off to college (although I hate to think of that day) and it’s my job to prepare them for that!
I am glad that I didn’t skip over this week. Next week is week 26 and the half way point. So far, I haven’t missed a week. Please continue the circle and head over to see what the fabulous Lucy Jane in Adelaide Australia has to show us for freedom. You won’t want to miss hers!

Oh Amy so glad you did not skip this week. You will also be glad when you get to the end of the year and have not missed one week. This is such a cute picture. I love the color, the light and his eyes are simply beautiful. His smiles looks like he now has freedom. We do have to let our children grow and gain their own independence. You are doing a great job, you should be proud.
